Checkmates is the home for the undercover chess heads, housing Creatives, Freelancers, Founders + Mentors with Cocktails (Not compulsory ) and good food under one roof every Tuesday.

Info: It takes 20 hours of deliberate practice to get the hang of ANY new skill. Thats why we dedicate an hour every week to studying the theory behind chess and analysing games. This is not compulsory, for those of you who prefer to chill, as you are, but for those who want, we have a table dedicated to your personal development for an hour every week.

Timed Games /Games Filmed for Analysis
Info: For the competitors, go head to head with other members in timed tournament style games. Limited thinking time develops that decision making muscle for all of you procrastinators and perfectionists out there ?. These games are filmed and will be analysed each week during the study hour.

Free Play / Networking / Cocktails
Info: We usually go on well past 10pm, so feel free to dip in and out as you wish, but our network of Freelancers, Young professionals, Founders + Mentors and our eclectic network of , filmmakers, marketing managers, producers, chefs VC and Hedge fund managers and people from really every industry is at your disposal. grab a game with someone you'd like to get to know or just recharge for the week ahead. This time is yours.
